We can’t tell you how excited we are to start Modge’s refresh.  We promise a light touch and to keep the 70s fabulousness of this place!  Modge is the main part of this amazing 1978 modern post + beam designed by New England architect Stephen Blatt.

Here are a few things on the horizon…

After leaving your shoes and gear in the terrazzo-floored mudroom, step into jaw-dropping 70s glory.  Built for solar gain in the winter, windows are everywhere.  Soaring 13 foot ceilings show off beautiful native spruce beams and cladding.  The great room houses a living, kitchen and dining area, complete with a mod freestanding gas fireplace, and views of the surrounding forest.  Sliding glass doors lead to an enormous, house-length deck and allow for indoor/outdoor living.

Around the corner from the great room is a den area and kids zone, where they’ll have bunks, an indoor tent, and a place to play games and watch obnoxious videos to their heart’s content.

The master bedroom adjoins the den, and it’s a retreat (with doors!) unto itself.  It will have a California king, a sitting area, a large TV, a fireplace, table-top coffee bar, mini-fridge and sink/washup area.  Sliding glass doors lead to the house-length deck, and the same soaring ceilings are in this room.  Wake up looking out at the pines, make yourself a cup of coffee, then sit on the deck (or your couch) with your thoughts and a warm beverage.  In the evening, cuddle up with a glass of wine, a movie, and the fireplace.

The bathroom will feature heated tile flooring, a large walk-in shower and a sauna.  Sliding glass doors (frosted, for privacy) lead to and from the deck.  After a shower or sauna, wrap up in one of our robes and sit outside in the fresh air (or, cocoon in the master bedroom!).

This side of the house will have its own (second) hot tub, and you’ll be able to come straight into the bathroom when you’re done if you want.

There is a very unique writing/thinking/sitting space in this property, in its own tower with its own deck.

Modge will comfortably sleep a family with kids of just about any age.  There are three twin beds in the den (two beds + a chair pullout), and there’s also a queen pullout in the living room if you have a teen or grandparent who wants a bit of separation.  And of course there’s the master suite with the huge Cali king.

You can combine Modge and Snug to very comfortably sleep 2 families.
